[ come on over!!! lu bixing looks back and then brightens when he sees kuranosuke, like immediately waving him over. over the little fire is a... harpoon.

but more importantly on that is some of the meat from the industrial kitchen, barbecuing away like a bigass skewer. he offers him a big grin. ]

Tradition. Hungry?

[ imagine i was like "its flesh meat"

actually there's a package of something that looks like it might've been frozen beef on the ground near where he's set up a little camp worth of spices and shit so no mystery meat. ]

It only ever snowed once, my entire life, when I grew up. My dad took me out to play in it even though I couldn't really get outside that easily, and we stayed out and collected mushrooms and then barbecued some meat over an open fire at the end of the day. I'll never forget it - it was one of the best afternoons of my life.

[ he turns the harpoon like a rotisserie. ] So, I thought I'd continue the tradition in his honor.

[ who do i look like, snow

he smiles, though, patting the spot beside him. come sit! ]

No mushrooms, just frozen food! But, we could always go get some from the giant island, if we wanted to. Those weren't to eat, anyway.

Studying. Mushrooms are really interesting, you know. There's a million different kinds.

[ lu bixing, even as the tiniest baby child

has always been a giant fucking nerd. ]

[ i mean like if you insist ]

On ancient Earth, there used to be only 14,000, but society's evolved since then! Here, though, I think there are just the old ones? But, anyway - they're really interesting. Did you know, there's one kind of mushroom that will consume itself when it's picked? Like a self-defense mechanism.

Fungi that we usually see are actually the fruit of a different, much larger underground fungus, too. Think of it like an apple on a apple tree - they're the reproductive bodies. Isn't that interesting?
