Well, yeah... kinda expected a brand as successful as that one not to have so much overstock? Like, it's whatever if a brand that is just getting started ends up with more than they expected to have - how are they supposed to know better? They're just starting.
But Avidy was, like, one of the biggest brands in all of Asia. You'd think they would know how much they needed and wouldn't make too many extras.
It's because they don't care. As long as the money they're burning doesn't affect the end profit, it's fine. And typically, the costs of actually making clothing isn't that high for companies of that size-- you use cheap labor.
[ he nods. and then the screen starts playing another scene.
There are two children staring at a kitten in a box. The kitten is clearly ill, with large patches of fur missing–it looks, actually, identical to the one that Akira has been spotted with recently. But unlike the one in hell, this cat is clearly barely hanging onto life.
One of the children, Ryo, thinks this, too. “It’s going to die.”
The other boy, Akira, drapes himself over the box, blocking the cat from Ryo. He tells Ryo to stop, but he just pulls on Akira’s shirt angrily. “It’s going to die. Give it to me. Let me kill it.”
Ryo uses his free hand to pull a boxcutter out of his pocket, and he continues to yank at Akira’s shirt. Akira protests further, and the two continue to struggle until Ryo finally gives up. The two of them leave the kitten in the box, and leave together, neither of them happy about the events.
They return to their home. It’s filled with other children, and they go into their usual nighttime routines. Eventually, Ryo realizes he hasn’t seen Akira in a while. He looks out the window and sees that it’s raining and, more importantly, he can see a small figure running back in the direction where they left the cat. Displeased, Ryo follows after him.
Ryo, holding onto an umbrella, walks along the path until he sees Akira on the ground. The other boy is hunched over the box, sobbing hysterically. Ryo watches for a moment before he speaks. “Why are you crying? You knew it was going to die.”
“No,” Akira says.
“The weak ones die.”
“No. That’s not true. You’re crying, too, Ryo.”
Ryo blinks in surprise. There are no tears on his face, so Akira’s words are incomprehensible to him. “Why? I’m not sad. It was gonna die.”
“You’re crying, too, Ryo,” Akira repeats.
Ryo can only stare at Akira’s back. He doesn’t understand. ]
